Lady Amherst began with a bird I encountered at a zoo in America. Its extraordinary colouring and markings stayed with me, while the rhododendrons came from much closer to home, from my own garden in Cornwall. Bringing the two together became the starting point for this original oil painting.

Surrounded by palms and foliage, the pheasant’s brilliant plumage and the flashes of red from the rhododendrons create a striking focal point. Lady Amherst brings colour, nature and a touch of the unexpected into your home, with details that continue to reveal themselves the longer you live with it.
